Every style makes a statement, and as men we want to project the perception we have of ourselves by the way we style our facial hair. So why don’t we go over some of the most popular facial hair styles and see what each one says about our personality.
Mustache
At first, growing a mustache represented a classical facial hair form of expression. Then in the ‘70s, the mustache took on a sexual connotation. Younger men who wear it are confident enough to believe that you can read their mustache in any way and not really care. A man who has a mustache is very sharp, well groomed as there are many ways to wear a mustache and a mustache these days says this person stands out or is unique. They are not commonly worn by the majority of men, but those who them are viewed as confidently stating: “I am different”.
Full beard
Once linked to men of the wilderness, this look came back with a twist. As one of the most popular looks nowadays, the full beard is no longer solely associated with mountain-men. Certain psychologists link a full beard to a man who is definitely not afraid of commitment, given the fact that growing and maintaining a healthy beard requires a lot of patience and care. And since the ability to grow a beard is a sign of physical maturity in men, it is naturally associated with age and grown manhood.
Clean shaven
Men with a clean shaven face are considered to be altogether and in many cultures more socially accepted. Being beardless is interpreted as a signal that a man is well socialised , but somehow uptight. “Safe” would be the right word, as such men try to avoid taking risks.
