Short beards can have a few rules of their own. An option for those of us who don’t love grooming or work in more conservative industries, and another if you’re in the transitional phase of growing. Here are a few tips you can follow to take care of your short beard.
Buy the essentials
Beard grooming products are the necessary essentials, but which ones do you really need? Whether you’re keeping your beard and moustache short and under control or you just want to make the best out of the phase of growing your facial hair you need these 3 products:
Beard soap: to keep your beard moisturised, healthy, and soft without damaging the hairs, while reducing the itchiness.
Beard brush: since your beard is short, you will notice that some hairs will start to curl in all directions. Using a high quality beard brush will fix that because brushing will make the follicles fall in line and grow in the correct direction.
Beard oil: that will replenish the natural oils in your beard and moustache, and will prevent dry and flaky skin and soften your beard to keep it tangle-free and easy to groom.
Watch that line
The most common mistake you can make with a shorter beard is trimming the neckline too high. You take the beard up to their chin, but what you should be doing is trimming it to about a finger’s width above the Adam’s Apple. If the underside of your neck is an area of your face you don’t want to show, stick to the “Finger Width Above the Adam’s Apple” rule and make sure it’s symmetrical. Once your neckline is symmetrical, it’s a lot easier to shave and trim. If you ever go too far or need help getting it symmetrical again, just make another visit.
Don’t mess with the moustache
A lot of bearded men would agree that one of the most time-consuming parts of growing facial hair is caring and styling the moustache. If you keep a long and full moustache, it will require some extra time on styling and shaping, especially at the beginning, while training the hair. So if you’re not making any particular statement, and planning on keeping a short beard, you might want to stick with a simple and trimmed moustache. However, if you want to walk the extra mile, try to train your moustache as soon as possible, early on in your beard journey, because growing a moustache takes time, and a long beard with a short moustache will look weird.
With these three easy tips, you will have a low maintenance beard in no time. So pick up your essentials from our shop and make the best out of your short beard!
