What are two of our favourite things as men? Food and beards, and we shouldn’t have to give up neither of them. So how can we eat without having to shave or start a diet? Well, nothing great ever comes easy, but we’re helping you out on this one.
Open up
Don’t stretch like a yawning lion, but simply get into the habit of opening up a little wider than you typically would. This will help keep your beard and mustache clean. Another piece of advice is to take smaller bites, which means biting or cutting down slowing down especially if it’s finger foods. For liquid foods, using a teaspoon instead of a tablespoon can make this a lot easier. This will prevent the utensil from scraping against the hairs of your mustache on its way out of your mouth. of course, having a waxed mustache will make the job easier.
Smart utensils
You definitely enjoy a cold beer every now and then, but soon enough as you start growing your beard, you’ll notice how straws, cans, bottles and any kind of lids will quickly become your best friend. And just in case you don’t have them around, keep a napkin close by. The goal is to transport your food to your mouth with minimal spills.
Tips and tricks
- If you have a very long beard just hold it back as you eat and use a damp handkerchief to wipe away any spills as soon as they occur.
- Open your mouth horizontally rather than in a vertical oval shape will help move the curtains of your mustache out of the way while eating.
- It is easier to whip the top and bottom of your mustache and beard than the sides, so turn handheld food sideways whenever possible to avoid getting bits and sauces on your mustache.
